2024 IT'S A WRAP
In 2024, we faced numerous challenges both personally and professionally. Nonetheless, our platform "stripping architecture" continued to progress, enabling us to achieve several goals that enhanced our development as content creators, communicators, and community builders.
Here is a brief summary of the highlights that demonstrate our hard work and dedication to the process.
10,000 followers on Instagram:
While some say follower counts aren't crucial, we view it as an achievement, especially given the daily messages we receive. Our follower base is steadily growing, and we're thrilled that these individuals continually suggest topics and content they believe should be highlighted. This reflects the sense of community we are gradually and carefully cultivating with our content.
1,000 subscribers on YouTube:
This figure is undoubtedly a milestone. The improved quality of our long-form content is evidenced by the increase in watch time and audience reactions to our videos.
Masters' Jury:
We were honored to be invited by Professor Kris Scheerlink to serve as external jury members for the master's thesis at KUL Faculty of Architecture - Campus Gent. We learned a lot, and our feedback on the students' work was received very positively.
Short movie for international film festival:
We were invited by Khristine Gillard to co-create a short movie for the international film festival "some strings". Collaborating with documentary film professionals was a fantastic experience. Together, we produced a poetic short video about Palestine based on our previous sketches.
Content collaboration:
We embarked on our first content collaboration with Professor and Architect Floor Van Ditzhuyzen. We explored Rotterdam through the lens of hostile architecture and urban hospitality. The outcomes were rewarding. We learned a lot and were encouraged to open our platform for more guests and collaborations.
Workshop:
We were invited by guest professor Sam de Vocht at the University of Antwerpen to participate in the project week titled "Hybrid Architecture". Our role was to guide students in communicating and exposing complex or invisible urban issues through graphics and video. Working with students and tapping into their fresh creative energy was a great experience.
Book publishing and book launch:
After eleven months of work, we successfully published our first book, "The Urban Revolution is a Fun Sketch". We believe this book provides a written and illustrated framework for bridging the gaps between urban complexities, professionals, and citizens.
Organizing the book launch was challenging, but meeting so many people from our digital community in person was an irreplaceable experience. We were especially pleased to connect different individuals using our content as a networking platform.
Podcast VUB:
We were honored to have our content on hostile architecture recognized by the youth. Consequently, we were invited by master's students at VUB to appear on their podcast discussing hostile architecture. Thanks to young enthusiasts Korneel, Lester, and Liesl, we explored this topic more extensively.
As you can see, this year was quite busy but also filled with new people and various activities that allowed us to explore ourselves and strengthen our community and knowledge base. Looking forward to more in 2025, but first, let's get some rest.
Thank you all for the support, see you in the new year!
